Playtesters

Play our games before everyone else.

Games are made by developers. They're finished by players.

We're looking for people who want to get their hands on Dreamcode games early, try things that aren't finished yet, and tell us what works—and what doesn't.

As a Dreamcode playtester, you'll have the opportunity to experience selected games and updates before their public release.

Playtesting

Get Early Access

Playtesters may receive access to selected builds before they're publicly available. Depending on the project, this can include:

  • Early prototypes
  • Closed tests
  • Pre-release builds
  • New game modes
  • Major updates
  • Experimental features

Not every playtester will necessarily receive access to every project. Different games may have different requirements and testing groups.

What Playtesters Do

Playtesting isn't just about playing a game. We want to know what you think. You may be asked to:

  • Play an early build
  • Try a new feature
  • Test a game mode
  • Find bugs
  • Report crashes
  • Identify confusing mechanics
  • Comment on difficulty
  • Test controls and usability
  • Tell us what you enjoyed
  • Tell us what you didn't enjoy

Sometimes we'll give you specific questions. Other times, we'll simply let you play and see what happens.

Help Shape Our Games

Your feedback can directly influence development.

  • A mechanic might be confusing.
  • A level might be too difficult.
  • A feature might be much more fun than expected.
  • A bug might appear only after doing something nobody on the team thought to try.

That's why we test. Playtesters give us perspectives we can't get by playing our own games hundreds of times.

Who Can Become a Playtester?

You don't need professional QA experience. We're interested in players who are:

  • Curious and observant
  • Honest
  • Comfortable giving constructive feedback
  • Willing to report problems clearly
  • Interested in trying unfinished games

Some tests may have specific requirements, such as a particular operating system or browser.

What We Expect

Playtest builds are unfinished. Things may break. Features may change. Your progress may be reset. A build may be replaced without warning. That's part of testing.

We ask playtesters to:

  • Keep unreleased builds private
  • Not redistribute game files
  • Not share private screenshots or videos unless permitted
  • Report bugs responsibly
  • Give honest and constructive feedback
  • Follow the instructions provided for each test

What You Get

Depending on the project, playtesters may receive:

  • Exclusive early access to unreleased games and major updates
  • Direct line to the devs via private testing channels
  • Influence development with your direct feedback
  • Credits recognition for your valuable contributions
  • Test-specific rewards (e.g. game keys, special Discord roles) when available

Most importantly, you get to play something before everyone else.
